Colt M16 Experience

Woke up at 0430 for the shooting session yesterday(I'm late)... Our bus left at 0500 and I slept straight away... When I woke up, I saw a familiar surrounding~ I'm on MRR2, 5 minutes from home... Our bus then continued to the Sg Besi army camp.

Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed. So no photos are shot. The atmosphere during the shooting sessions reminds me of CNY... The smell of gun powder and the sound of the M16 and the heat from the sun... The 'bang' is, out of expectation, quite soft... It was even softer than real fire crackers... (reminds me of 2007 5A's 'fire cracker, fire cracker, boom boom boom') The recoil, is also a lot less than expected... It only felt like someone pushing your shoulders... We were disappointed when we found out that we'll only be shooting 20 bullets instead of the 30 promised by the government... It's not hard to aim at the target... But then no one knows where their bullet went as there were no signs of bullet hitting the target... Anyway, the bullet is just 5.56mm in diameter... After 20 bullets, hmmm~ 74/100... not bad for a newbie...

The trainers wanted some performance from the Chinese for the Open Day on (I don't know when)... So they chose around ten girls, five chinese and five malays to practise the traditional chinese fan dance... There's a problem, none of them had performed fan dance before... In the end, me and two of my others friends was chosen to 'guide' them... I wonder how the performance will look like. It's quite weird to see three chinese male teaching ten girls how to dance... XD

Time's running out, going to cut my 1cm-long-hair in a few moments... Looking forward to receive my phone tonight~

I was selected to attend the National Service Training Programme, 3rd batch this year, which started in mid June... But I'm having my Form Six, so I've sent in the deferment letter in May... I'm still not gatteing any replies from them... And I wouldn't want to attend it AFTER my uni... I then called them and asked if I could attend it after my STPM. They told me that my deferment letter is STILL under proccess. I have to WAIT until I get the reply letter so that I can reply to that letter stating when I could attend NS, and WAIT for it to be proccessed...

I covered my rat with more chloroform before opening it up, just to really kill my rat… It will be a nightmare for both of us if he wakes up while I’m removing his testicles…

这也是时候打开包袱，重新检讨背包里收藏着的石头。

该放下的，就得放下。

即使有些石头，真的不需要再逗留在你背包里，你可能还不舍得放下。

可是，收着这些石头，只会使你的包袱超重，令你更难爬得更高。

一路上都会碰到不一样的人。

Trip to (probably) the most radioactive place in Malaysia

The Science and Mathematics Society had organised a trip for Science Upper Sixers to the Malaysian Nuclear Agency.

It was raining not-very-heavily this morning when we took off from Victoria Institution. We soon got stuck in a traffic jam at Sungai Besi. Later on I found out that the jam was caused by a flash flood. Yellow “teh-ais” coloured drain water could be seen overflowing from the longkang, not more than 300m from the SMART Tunnel entrance…

When we reached Bangi, we were greeted by Malaysian Nuclear Agency’s entrance, which was way better than what I imagined, and also guarded strictly by the police. We were first given a brief introduction on the agency and uses/importance of nuclear science. I’ll skip this part as most of us fell asleep in the cool, comfortable room.

We were later taken to a place where it really surprised me, the TRIGA PUSPATI nuclear reactor. I never knew and never expected Malaysia would have any nuclear reactors, but this 1 megawatt reactor, is already more than 25 years old… And it holds 100 over Uranium rods. Not the big ones, only half a meter long each, and costs hundreds of thousands per kilo of U-235.

All of us were instructed to off our phones and no cameras are allowed. Then, we were led to the reactor room. I actually broke one of their rules: No one under 18 is allowed to visit the reactor as the radiation might still be too much for the underaged, like me! XD Sadly, only my two teachers are allowed to have a look inside the three-storey-high reactor from above. It also has a mini particle collider (not really a particle collider, just something that shoots a specimen with a beam of high energy neutrons, considered mini compared to the LHC at CERN).

After that, we went to the (I forgot the name). It is a place where manufactured foods, herbals, laboratory apparatus, medical equipments, rubber gloves and other products are sterilised. Cobalt-60 is used to irradiate the products. The process happens in a chamber, enclosed in a two-meter-thick high density concrete layer to prevent any possible gamma leakage… While the agency’s employee was explaining how the process take place, I was six inches away from the lead door that leads into the chamber. According to her, the radiation level inside there would range from 10-25 kiloGy (Gy=Gray, a unit to measure radiation exposure, named after a person), while 34 Gy is enough to kill a person. And I was only six inches away from a door that defines the line between life, and death…

We were not given any souvenirs. As informed earlier during the visit, we were collecting radiation the whole morning as souvenir.

After a day of tidying up my house(which is still not very tidy yet), I started clicking random blog links from my friend’s blogs… Nothing much important in this post as I just feel like writing…

I somehow came across “4.0”’s blog. The name “4.0” was given to her because we found out that she was one of the prettiest girl we spotted during the VICLU one day camp some days ago, and 4.0 is the best point possible for STPM results… But only after scrolling through several of her posts, I found out that she’s not that pretty after all, but still pretty, ~~maybe a B+ or 3.33~~(It’s not the right way to rate girls… It’s not right to rate girls anyway…).

One thing that interests me is that she started blogging since Standard Five. I’ve found out that her posts made me to start missing my past time. It’s great that one can start blogging at a young age(yes, primary five IS young for ME as I still don’t care much about computers when I’m that age). I did felt abit disappointed when I found out that she came from sksbu, I don’t know why… Maybe it’s because I expected her to come from 华小. Her blog do reminds me of my Form Four life. Which I am missing now… I’m stil studying in a secondary school but everything seems to be so dull compared back to my F4 time, which was one of the best years in school, yes other years are still that fun but… My school life now is so… 不够乐趣… Now can’t say don’t have but then it’s still nothing compared to my days in SBS… I wonder how would it be if I chose to study in a college instead… How would it be if I took my ASEAN(which I dropped some time ago)… I’m having less fun now, I don’t know why, I can’t blame on studies, as I never study as much as I did in SBS… I just don’t know why can’t I get back the feelings… Hope my next step after STPM would not be that dead as now. Shit, I’m not sure what I’m writing liao, I should stop here…

Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival @ Berjaya Times Square

Big bunches of gunners shooting during the model shoot-out contest... This is only less than half of the shooting crowd...

I was at the Ground Floor shooting the crowd when i saw this guy holding a long zoom lens pointing at the model... (Probably aiming for the cleavage... XD)

First Round
I didn't get a nice spot for the first round... All spots were conquered long before the event starts...
So I went behind the side of the stage... The models won't turn this way unless the uncles called out loud, "leng lui turn here!"
They then started promoting Fijifilm cameras...

Hmm... I was praying that her dress will fall when i press the shutter release button... (Jk la...)

After the first round we (Jun, Zhan Yang, Soon Chiat and me) went to low yat for duck rice and back to BTS to have some fun with cameras that worth more than twenty thousand...

We then camwhored with a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III... The photos are with Zhan Yang... Both cameras filled his two 256MB backup CF card with a little more than 10 shots...

Later on the schedule was another model shoot out session... With Amber Chia...I bet most shooters will see the schedule like that... XD

Second Round

Jen Siow, a photographer gave a brief talk before the shooting session... He mentioned that

every photographer there was filled by passion to shoot girls... I think the passion is driven by testosterone la...

My first shot... Didn't had the settings right and everybody was pushing and pushing and shooting and flashing and blocking...

After the shooting session, oly i noe Amber Chia Engrish soe powderful...
One of the things she said is that background mushik (music) during a shooting session is very important to bring up the mood of the model... I do agree with that...

Shot 400++ shots that day sure got few "run away light" shots one...

I skipped Physics tuition for this event... I didnt study for maths paper thats on the following day... Ended up the exam with more than half of the questions couldn't solve...

BUT, I feel no guilt =)

Could you still remember when you're in your primary school, where you were writing essays about helping blind people cross the road or giving your seat on the bus to an old lady?

It was today's evening, at Maluri bus station, in front of Jusco. I saw a blind old lady comming down from a bus, tapping her (what do you call that stick?), with her weak voice calling out softly, "Hello?"

I can't believe that, the crowd around her actually ran away from her, instead of helping her... And I can't believe that, I walked to her and asked her what can I help...

"Can you alert me when T327 arrives?"

"Okay, no problem."

"And let me know when you are going to leave."

"Okay~"

A few moments later, (OMG) a U47 arrived! (U47 is the RapidKL route that passes in front of my front door and it is considered as my dream bus to get on whenever I wanted to go home, as Metro or SJ's 62 stops at Jalan Cheras and I'll need to 'climb' up the hill to reach home. But it is really RARE to spot one when I need it, I've never ride on any U47 for months! And, U47 is everywhere when I don't need them... For once I tried to wait for a U47 to appear, 7 (is it 7 or 9 ar?) 62's came and went off... I no tahan anymore and rode on the next 62, while cursing RapidKL...)

"Err, sorry, my bus arrived. I'll find someone else to help you."

"Thank you."

I asked the young man in front of me to help out the poor blind old lady, after staring at me for a few seconds, he agreed.

Back on the bus, i started to feel lucky to get on U47 today, feeling a little bit sad for not being able to wait for a T327 for that pity blind lady, feeling a little bit (actually, quite) disappointed because of Malaysian's (perhaps Cheras people's) coldness towards the disabled, and also feeling a little bit happy for approaching the blind old lady to volunteer...

I should've taken better pictures of this waterfall... But it was far-far below 0˚C, my fingers were numb even under the gloves... And... I don't have a tripod with me, BIG mistake...

It was snowing heavily when the bus was on the highway back to Xi'an... The bus had to slow down until... We missed the train to Beijing that evening... So we spent another day in Xi'an...

The Xi'an City Wall, built around the Xi'an city centre... We cycled on it... It was about 14km in total...

I went to china with my family last December... We visited a lot of places, including 西安(Xi'an), 北京(Beijing), 上海(Shanghai), 广州(Guangzhou), 澳门(Macau), 深圳(Shenzhen), 珠海(Zhuhai) and 香港(Hong Kong). It was winter and the northern part was just a little bit (too) cold... The highway heading Xi'an city from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport covered in mist.

It has been long since i abandoned my old blog, IXUS 40...

At last, I made my decision to continue blogging, since (almost) everybody, including our age old ex-PM, Mahathir, and Zhan Yang on a dail-up, has their own blog...

I'll mostly upload photos I've taken, and maybe more about myself if I do feel to write...
